Dr. Jackson has been an active member of the Internal Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology since 1993. While attending his first meeting, concerns he had had since dental school regarding the use of mercury in dental fillings, the interaction of different metals in the mouth, and the mechanical treatment for gum disease were found to be justified. The IAOMT is a group of dentist, medical doctors, researchers and lay people all concerned with making sure the dentistry we provide is based on science and is not going to be harmful. After this first meeting, Dr. Jackson became mercury free, meaning he no longer places filling material that contains mercury, and changed his dental school approach to dentistry to one that is more holistic, which means he takes the whole person into consideration when examining and prescribing needed dental treatment for his patients.
